Day 4 — Hope in a Living Redeemer
Scripture Focus: Job 19:25–27; Job 14:14–15
In the middle of his pain, confusion, and rejection, Job makes one of the strongest declarations of faith in all of Scripture:
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.” (Job 19:25)
Let that sink in.
Job did not say, “I feel my Redeemer lives.
He said, “I know.”
Nothing around Job had changed yet.
His body was still broken.
His friends were still wrong.
God had not yet spoken.
But Job’s faith reached beyond his pain.
The word redeemer points to one who restores, defends, and brings justice. Job believed that even if his suffering ended in death, God was not finished with him.
He continued:
“Though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.” (Job 19:26)
That is hope that outlives suffering.
Earlier, Job hinted at this longing when he asked:
“If a man die, shall he live again? … Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee.” (Job 14:14–15)
Job trusted that God’s final word would not be pain, but redemption.
Life Application
When your situation looks hopeless:
-
Anchor your faith in what you know, not what you feel.
-
Pain may last for a season, but God’s redemption is eternal.
-
Your suffering does not cancel God’s promises.
Because our Redeemer lives, your story is not over.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being our living Redeemer. When our circumstances speak despair, help us stand firm in faith. Remind us that You will have the final word over our lives. Amen.
